Roasted cauliflower steak is extremely easy to cook and is a nutritious dish everyone loves. There are many health benefits to this amazing vegetable. Cauliflower is naturally high in fiber, plus vitamins B and C. It provides antioxidants and fights against cancer. It also helps with weight loss and fights immunity.
Cauliflower steaks are simple to prepare with little flavoring needed such as sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Cutting the cauliflower into thick slices is perfectly fulfilling for a plant-based dinner. To add more flavor, we recommend serving it with a savory sauce.
After scouting for that perfect cauliflower, make sure the head is heavy and the leaves are bright green. Start by cutting the leaves off first, chop the cauliflower head stem side down on a cutting board and cut thick slices for larger bites. Save the crumbles to make cauliflower rice, risotto, or grits.
To achieve perfectly chopped cauliflower, use a large chef’s knife. Depending on how large you want the cauliflower slices to be, we recommend using two large slices from each head to get the best hearty steaks.
Start by preparing a baking sheet, place the sliced cauliflowers, and spread a little olive oil with some herbal seasoning on top. Preheat the oven at least 500°F and place it back in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Once they are baked, to give a zesty taste you can sprinkle it with some garlic or sea salt and chopped parsley or basil for some color and texture. Enjoy!
2 heads cauliflower
1 teaspoon (5 g) kosher salt
¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
½ teaspoon paprika
Preheat to 500ºF and prepare the baking sheet.
Cut the outer green leaves from the cauliflower head and trim the stems.
Using a large chef knife cut the cauliflower in half lengthwise through the center.
Cut 1 ½ inch thick “steak.” If the head of the cauliflower is large, carefully cut one more slice.
Repeat the same process and in total there should be 4-8 steaks.
Place the cauliflower steaks in the baking sheet pan.
In a small bowl mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Spread the olive oil on both sides of each cauliflower steak.
Take the seasoning and sprinkle it on both sides of the cauliflower steaks.
Securely cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for five minutes.
Remove the foil from the cauliflower and roast for ten minutes.
Gently flip the cauliflower steak and roast until the golden crust is visible on both sides, leave it in for 15-20 minutes.
Take it out of the oven, garnish with parsley.
